Recent reports suggest that FC Barcelona is eyeing Erling Haaland for a potential transfer in the upcoming summer of 2025, and the Catalan hopes that a renovated Camp Nou will play a decisive role in convincing the Manchester City striker, Mundo Deportivo reports.

FC Barcelona are currently in an economic crisis but are banking on the Spotify Camp Nou, which is already in the stage of completion, as a source of funds to sign the Manchester City striker ahead of the 2025–26 season.

The Norwegian attacker has attracted attention from top clubs due to his exceptional performances. He had an impressive debut season with Manchester City, helping them win their first ever treble, and continued his strong form into the new season, leading in the race for the golden boot once again.

However, his outstanding performance comes with a hefty price tag. Reports from April indicated that he was earning a staggering million per week at Manchester City, and TransferMkt pegs his transfer value at 180 million euros.

Considering Barcelona's ongoing financial struggles, which have resulted in registration issues in La Liga in recent years, Culers would prefer the club management to cut down on expenses by relying on Robert Lewandowski up front.

After all, the Polish striker has been turning up in games and even rejected an offer of a €100 million salary from a club in Saudi Arabia. 

No doubt this would be some great thinking from people who have the team in their hearts; however, Barca are preparing for the future given that the ex-Bayern Munich star is now 35 years old.

Can Barca make it through?

Haaland's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has a good relationship with Barca, according to Goal. This gives the Blaugrana side an edge over other powerhouses like Real Madrid, PSG, and a couple of others competing for his signature.

Moreover, the Santiago Bernabeu side is more focused on signing French international Kylian Mbappe this year, so the report of any interest in Erling Haaland doesn't seem like a big threat.

City superstar Haaland will hope to help the Premier League team clinch more silverware this season. So it remains to be seen whether he will opt for a new challenge when Barca comes calling in 2025.
