FC Barcelona 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain: Heartbreaking exit from the UEFA Champions League quarter-final

The FC Barcelona Champions League dream has been thwarted at the quarter-final stage once again by a fierce Paris Saint-German side coached by former Barcelona legend Luis Enrique.

The Blaugrana giant defeated the Parisians 3-2 away from home, and coming into the quarter-final second leg at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium with a goal up instills so much confidence that Culers will be marching into the semi-finals, but that hope ended up being shattered by the referee's decision.

Barça started strong with the team's finest defenders, midfielders, and attackers all on the pitch, and that decision paid off early in the 12 minutes as Raphina scored from a point-blank range through a Lamine Yamal right-footed cross to make it 2-0 on aggregate.

But a controversial red card against Ronald Araujo in the 29 minutes of the game completely changed the night and turned the tie on its head, and a 10-man Barça side fought hard but couldn’t hold off the visitors as PSG got the goals needed to complete the comeback and advance to the semi-finals.

A night that had promised to be beautiful ended up being a heartbreaking nightmare, and all Barça can do now is pick up the pieces and focus their full attention on La Liga and El Clásico this coming Sunday.
