Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski was happy to speak out after scoring a hat-trick against Valencia in La Liga on Monday

Robert Lewandowski bagged a second-half hat-trick to ensure Barcelona grabbed all three points in an entertaining 4-2 win over Valencia on Week 33 in La Liga.

Fermin Lopez put Barcelona in front with a superb header in the 22nd minute before Hugo Duro leveled in the 27th minute, and Pepelu took advantage of Araujo's error in the box to slot home from the spot to turn the game round.

The game completely changed in the second half after Valencia's Mamardashvili was sent off late in the first half for handball, and Lewandowski made it 2-2 in the 49th minute by powering home from the near post through Gündogan's corner kick.

The game lurched from end-to-end, with Domenech saving brilliantly from Araujo’s header and Barca substitute Pedri making a last-ditch challenge to stop Diego Lopez from striking. Eventually, the ball kindly falls to Lewandowski, who heads into the unguarded goal. Barcelona, go ahead 3-2!

The Polish international wrapped up his treble in stoppage time with a stunning kick after one of Valencia's defenders tripped Ferran Torres. Lewandowski takes charge of the free-kick and curls it superbly into the top corner past Valencia goalkeeper Domenech. That's the game done and dusted! Barcelona has four, and the Pole has three. 4-2, it ended!

Here’s what Lewandowski made of it and his thoughts on Barcelona’s comeback.

“No, it wasn’t easy at all. In the first half, we didn’t have much space going forward, but I think the most important thing is that if we concede one or two, we can score three or four. This is Barca, and we need to play attacking football; we need to score many goals, and that makes life a lot easier,” he said.

“We knew in the second half we had to play quicker, to be patient, to not take too many touches, to keep the ball high up the pitch, to find the free man in space, and at the end we scored four goals and we have three points.

“Normally we have a lot of opportunities to score goals, and that makes things easier for me. Having chances is the first step, and then, in the end, if the whole team plays well offensively, my life becomes easier.

“Now we can look ahead to the next game against Girona. The more goals we score, the easier it is for me and for everyone else. My hat-trick comes from the work of the entire team.”

The win moves Barcelona back into second place ahead of a trip to Girona up next in La Liga on Saturday. It also means that league leaders Real Madrid won't be taking the crown by simply beating Cadiz next Saturday. Los Blancos are 11 points clear with five matches remaining.
