Pau Victor has proved that no one is irreplaceable at FC Barcelona unless you're Lionel Messi.
You can add to it!
Before Pau Victor came into the mix, we were all glazing over Marc Guiu as a reliable substitute for Lewandowski, but guess what? He moved to Chelsea for more money, as Culers openly say.
No disrespect to Guiu! He's a Culer and would always be. I feel his decision was on the basis that he's getting older and wants more minutes and more money.
Whatever the case, Barça is renowned for churning out new talents every season, and in all honesty, Pau Victor is an upgrade that Barça would be grateful to have.
Can Barça rely on Pau Victor?
Pau Victor has been FC Barcelona's greatest revelation in this year's United States preseason tour.
The 22-year-old has scored three goals in the first two friendlies against the big boys of European football.
His first came against Manchester City, dubbed the best team in Europe 2023/24 season, and a brace against current champions league winner Real Madrid on Saturday in MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.
Even more interesting is that the youngster in both outings was named Man of the Match for his brilliant performances.
Isn't this a reach?
And if you say, "It's just a friendly,"
Here's what Thibaut Courtois has to say: "The defeat in El Clásico? We don't like losing to Barcelona."
Courtois running to the box in the last minutes of the game to support a set-piece kick from Real Madrid further proves his point.
Moreover, Pau Victor isn't a noob in goalscoring, nor is he a fluke.
The Spaniard was Barca Atletic’s top scorer last season after impressing with Rafa Marquez’s side, who made it to the promotion play-off final.
So there's no surprise why Hansi Flick believes Pau Victor has a place in the squad and the locker room, even mentioning him as a perfect backup for Robert Lewandowski during more important matches.
"Flick identifies Pau Victor as a talented goal scorer who can play in various positions in attack and is currently ahead of Vitor Roque," Fernando Polo & Gabriel Sans of Mundodeportivo reveal.
Has FC Barcelona completed the acquisition of Pau Victor from Girona FC?
Yeah! FC Barcelona reached an agreement with Girona for Pau Victor to stay at the club until 30 June 2029.
Barça initially was afraid to take up a purchase in his contract but eventually did after proper consideration, and the former Girona striker only cost around 2.5 million euros to remain in Barcelona.
A deal every true football fan would call a steal even though rivals would always find ways to criticize.
"He was criticized for wanting to play for Barça, having offers from higher categories, but he wanted to fight for his dream. Today, Pau Victor scores a double and is the MVP against Real Madrid. The reward always comes when you are patient," Blazquez Font via Instagram.
I will stop here for now! More on Pau Victor when the season starts and matures.
