Gary Lineker Predicts Marcus Rashford Will Succeed at Barcelona

Former England and Barcelona striker Gary Lineker has thrown his support behind Marcus Rashford, backing the Manchester United forward to thrive in his new chapter at FC Barcelona.

The legendary ex-Blaugrana star described Rashford as a “great player” and praised his talent, speed, and personality—qualities he believes will make the Englishman a strong asset for the Catalan giants.

“Barça haven’t had an English player in years. I think Marcus is a great signing. He’s incredibly talented,” Lineker told Què t’hi jugues

“He’s had a rough spell at United and didn’t get enough minutes, but the issue has often been the club itself. Many players have left United and flourished elsewhere.”

A Fresh Start in La Liga

Lineker highlighted Rashford’s blistering pace and attacking threat, calling him “very dangerous” and “a good person.” He expressed optimism that Barcelona’s style of play—and the need for fresh legs under Hansi Flick’s demanding system—will bring out the best in the 26-year-old.

“He just needs the right environment to flourish,” Lineker added. “There are so many fixtures these days. Barcelona need more quality starters, and Marcus brings that. I genuinely believe he’ll prove to be a great signing.”

Where Will Rashford Fit Under Hansi Flick?

Lineker also gave his thoughts on Rashford’s tactical fit at Barcelona, hinting that he could seamlessly slot into Flick’s dynamic attacking setup—either on the wing or in a more central role.

As Barça’s pre-season tour in Asia continues, fans won’t have to wait long to see Rashford don the famous blaugrana jersey. Early signs point to the English forward being an exciting addition to Flick’s squad.
